The Feeling of Home

Home, What is home to you? What does home mean to you?? I know what home is for me. Home is where I was brought after I was born, one of the first things I ever saw in my life. Home is where I had my first sleep other than the hospital. Home Is where I took my first steps in the living room. Home is where I said my first word, mine was dad. Home is where your room is pink, blue or maybe even polka dots. Home is where I have a section on the wall to see how tall I have grown over the years. Home can be the feeling of warmth you get when you walk through the front door, or maybe a memory of that time when you were three and you got your finger caught in the garage door. Or all of the barbeque parties that your family had in the backyard. Home is where you meet new friends, run through sprinklers, have playdates for the first time, have friends and family over for dinner, or just to hang out. Home is where you grow your life to the fullest, and create special memories. Your home could have changes along the way, but whenever you see it you know that it is your home. You remember all of the memories you had in the kitchen, maybe cooking or baking together, in the living room laughing together, in the backyard where you blew out your birthday candles, or maybe home is just a nice memory of watching a movie together with your family. Home has good and bad memories, maybe even some sad memories. Maybe you lost a loved one, maybe you celebrated a big birthday, maybe you had to say goodbye to a friend, but in the end, you knew that it would all be okay because at the end of the day you knew that you were going to go home. Maybe you were going home to your siblings, dog, mom, dad, grandparents, aunt and uncles, it didn’t matter who, you still knew you were going home. Home is not just a place, it is a feeling. It looks different for everyone. It doesn’t matter if it is big or small in the city or in the country, it is your home, and your special place. This is what home means to me.
