The True Meaning of Home
When I was younger, when people said the word home, I thought it meant the place where I lived. That was long ago when I was in grades one and two, and I was too foolish and uneducated to know what home meant. Now that I am a few years older I know what home means, that it means much more than a building.
Home means much more than the house I have a bedroom and bathroom in, have a living room and kitchen in. Home is where I am with my family and pets. Home is where I am comfortable and safe. Home is where I learned to walk, learned to be responsible, learned to talk. Home is a very difficult thing to describe because words aren’t enough to describe what a true home is. My home is not just a small house in a big neighbourhood. My home is a place where I am welcome and happy.
Every day, I walk home, not to my house, to my home. My home can’t change, even if I moved. Even if I moved somewhere far away from my big, bright house, my home would still be the same, it wouldn’t change one bit. Because I would still be comfortable and safe, and I would still be with my family.
A home is a place where you can be yourself and no one tries to stop you. And that, that is the true meaning of home.
I feel bad for those people that don’t have a home, everyone should. Habitat for Humanity is giving homes to people who need them and I think they are doing an amazing job at it. Everyone should try and help people get homes. Even if you are poor or rich, old or young, you should have a proper home.
