Away From Home
Away From Home
It is ok to feel nervous to move and to get that feeling that you just can’t shake.
When I moved, I felt this feeling I just couldn’t shake. It feels like you want to throw up. I wondered why I felt the way I felt? Then, I decorated my room. I miraculously felt welcomed and it was lovely. I was so glad to not be throwing up anymore. A couple of days later, I started to feel even more comfortable. I felt better, but my brother was still feeling homesick. I felt so bad because I tried everything to make him happy, but nothing worked. I can't watch him throw up, it makes me cry. I do not like watching him throwup. It makes me throw up (like I said before) and makes me cry too.
Then one day my brother looked like he felt better, and told me that his best friend from LA told him a story. I asked what was the story about? He said he didn't want to tell me about it. Ugh! Sometimes I both hate and love my brother! One time he locked me out the house but I still love him because he makes my heart warm and I love that. And, even if he still thinks there are monsters under his bed, I will still love him.
You might think that I’m crazy, but I believe home is not just a house, it’s a feeling. Home makes me feel happy. Here are some of the places that feel like home for me: my room, my school and my friends’ houses.
So, if you feel nervous to move, don't - because you will meet new people and sometimes they are nice. People think that you have to like their home right away, but you don’t, because home is a feeling that can sometimes take a long time before you actually feel it. Home is a feeling that takes time, so don’t rush it. Give yourself time, wait, and watch - until one day you will see you are ready to call your new house, HOME.
