What is home to me?

To me, home is not just four walls, several rooms and a roof. Home means something way different. Back in my home country, I knew that home was a place that you could go after a long day of work or a super hard exam. Because home is way more than just a place to live. It’s a place that’s full of fun, laughter, celebration, love, family, people who care about you, safety, warmth and more. In my house, there is furniture, food, rooms and walls. These are things you can touch and see. But in my home, I have warmth, memories, love and care. These may not be things you can touch or see, but they are things you can feel. A home is also the place where you can be yourself. An example of this is, there is some stuff you just want to tell people to make you feel better. But you can’t always trust people. The most trustworthy people you will ever meet is your family. A house may not always be yours in some situations. For example, it could be rented. But a home is like your own place that you can call yours. Because it’s where you can feel comfortable, voice out your opinion, be surrounded by people you love, and most of all, be yourself. A house may have security measures to make you safe, but a home has warmth that makes you feel safe. It’s true that you need to feel lucky for the house you have, but nothing compares to the luck you feel of having a home. By: Avila Chengelroydoo School and grade: St. John Paul II Grade 5
