Goose Father

I came to Canada from Korea to study abroad with my younger sibling and my mother. My father stayed in Korea. We call fathers like him a "Goose Dad.". Through this study abroad, I learned the importance of a father and the hardships of studying abroad. However, the good memories I had after coming to Canada are memories I will never forget. The meaning of the term "Goose Dad" refers to a person who works in his home country while his children and wife study abroad to pursue better opportunities. To me, my father is a comfort and, above all, a person I love. The most memorable thing I have done in Canada was when my dad came to visit us for Christmas. We hadn't seen him since we left Korea in the summer. We travelled around Quebec. We have travelled before but this felt more special. Being apart, made me appreciate my time more with my family. For me, home is a place where I make memories with my family. Through studying abroad, I realized how precious the memories I had with my dad were. Even though we are separated in different countries, we are always together in our hearts and I will always remember that we are a loving family. I hope that someday our family can live happily together in this beautiful country of Canada. *If I were to win this contest, I would like to give the ipad to my dad. He is using my old ipad, and recently found out that the old ipad breaks often. This would be a great gift for my "Goose Dad."
