What home means to me
In my opinion, I believe that everyone should have a home. A home keeps you safe and healthy from many challenges. First, a home provides a stable shelter to keep people safe, healthy, and from dangerous elements. Second, a home keeps you safe from the public eye and allows privacy. Third, you are given clean food and water at all times. Without a home, people face challenges that can injure a person on the physical side as well as the emotional side.
The reason you want to have a home is because if you do not, you could get frostbite, or you could get really sick. One time my brother broke a window in my house with a hockey puck when he was practicing shooting and it hit the crossbar and flew up into the window. Of course it happened on a cold day and we had to sit that whole day out wearing our jackets and sitting on the couch under blankets. It took a whole week to fix but at least they taped it up while we waited. Believe me waiting for a window to be repaired apparently takes way too long but it may just be because we were freezing cold. I would not want to have that experience everyday no matter what the weather, so I think that everyone should have a house so they can keep warm and healthy. Having to stay in the cold when it is winter time would be very dangerous because you could get frostbite and you could get a cold. If you do not have a house you often do not have much healthcare and you would not want to get sick or else the sickness could get much worse. I have sometimes had to take out the trash or sometimes I go on a walk to pick up trash but some people have to go scouring the trash for empty pop cans and empty milk jugs to get money. I have never seen anyone scouring trash cans in my neighborhood or anywhere I have gone but some people need to get that money for food or jackets or other things they need to live through the cold winter.
If no one has a home then they cannot even celebrate holidays that they want to celebrate with family and friends or even strangers. If a houseless person were to walk up to a random person's home you could walk up their steps on christmas and ask if you could stay at their house for Christmas with pride they would say no. If you asked them they would probably look at you for a minute thinking you're crazy and say no and tell you to ask someone else and that would happen for every single person you ask. I think people should have a home to keep you healthy and safe from snow, sleet, hail, rain, and other weather that could make people get sick or hurt. Having a home not only allows people to have shelter from the elements but it also lets you have time on your own away from the public eye.
I believe that everyone should have a home because people need privacy and time on their own. If anyone never got time on their own to calm down or relax after a stressful day the world would be chaotic and no one would ever get more than an hour of sleep. The world would be exhausted every day but if everyone has a home people would be less stressed out and they could go into their room and take a break from the stressful world. I have had an experience where I was in the middle of school recess and I got a small bruise from falling down on the soft grass and everyone crowded around me even though it was a small injury. At that moment I was panicking and I had nowhere to be alone. I was very stressed and I just wanted to sit down and take a break from anyone or anything near me but no one would leave me alone. I just waited there for the blasting bell to ring so I could sit in my chair and take a break from anything pressured or tense. There are people that are on the streets being stared at everywhere they go no matter what they do or where they go. I have had only a few experiences that I have never been left alone when I want to but some people live through that every single day. Sometimes I get hungry or thirsty but some people live on the streets not knowing if their food or water is clean.
Every day I know my food will be clean and my water will be safe to drink. When my dad catches a deer or elk from hunting I know he can just wash it and it will be safe to eat. I have only once been not sure if my water was clean. One weekend I went to Florida and my parents told me that the water is not always clean and filtered there so we had to have special filters in our water bottles. I felt safe drinking that water because we had filters and I was partially filtered already. Some people on the streets do not have filters or special items that keep their water clean so they are not always sure that it is safe to drink. Food and water is a necessity to life on earth and people could not live without it. If no one had clean food or water people would get sick and there would be less water in the world because dirty water can make you more dehydrated. If there were houseless people all over the world there would be thousands of problems for even one person like fishing up water and hunting for food. You would have to find ways to keep warm and find ways to keep entertained for the least of it.
In conclusion, everyone needs to have a home. To me a home is my brother's argument reminding me that home is not perfect and the sound of the air conditioner turning on and the humming is calming. When I come home from school I always like the taste of a snack and having a book to read. I always look forward to coming home from school, lying in my bed and taking a break. Every day I love the smell of my mom baking bread for sandwiches. Many people have none of those feelings and I think that everyone, no matter who they are, should have that feeling every day. If you had all of these problems and more than you would be stressed and be very rushed every day. There are many reasons why being homeless is very dangerous and why everyone should have a home.
