Why everyone deserves a Home
I think that every person deserves a home no matter what. Everyone deserves to be warm and have a safe place to sleep, and everyone deserves to be given equal opportunities to get a job, be able to pay bills and have healthcare. I believe that no matter who you are, everyone deserves a home.
I couldn’t imagine going home to a cold house, not being able to turn on the fireplace, not having warm boots and mitts and a hat or socks. Not having pillows to rest my head or blankets to feel nice and warm. A few years ago our heater broke. We had to leave our oven open and always wear sweaters. Luckily this was in the spring so it wasn’t too cold but it still sucked. We got it fixed after about five days. I’m very happy to have experienced this because it gave a much better understanding of what it could've felt like to have that feeling of being cold 24/7 for about seven months out of the year. I was lucky to have blankets and sweaters but not everyone does. That is why I believe that everyone deserves to have a house or any kind of shelter to stay warm.
A job, a basic human right is to have a job. But when you're houseless then I'm assuming that you most likely don’t have a car so going to work would be hard and if you're houseless then you probably smell due to no proper hygiene, And companies don’t want to hire people that smell a certain way or look a certain way. And though this shouldn’t be legal but sadly people can deter from hiring people without giving a reason. Without a job you can't buy groceries or clothes or basic necessities or being able to pay for medicine and other things to do with health. My sister had leukemia when she was four until she was about five. My dad didn’t tell me much but what I know just as basic knowledge is that cancer treatment is expensive and I know that would’ve been a huge toll on my mom. But luckily they were able to pay for my sisters treatments and now my sister is 21 and healthy. This is why I believe that everyone deserves to have equal opportunities to have a job because you never know what someone it going through and why they need the money.
Feeling safe is the most important feeling there is. It’s that feeling that just puts you into a state of calm. However if you are houseless it can often be very hard for them to feel safe. When you're out on the streets and you have no way to prevent your stuff from being stolen or you from being hurt. I’m one of the very lucky people that get to go home and feel safe and secure.
I know that when I’m home I'm safe because I have people that will protect me. Living without a house can be very dangerous even if you're lucky enough to end up in a houseless shelter. You have no idea how long you're going to have a roof over your head and that feeling of safety over you and your belongings, That feeling of not having to constantly be looking over your shoulder. That feeling of being able to relax and have people that are there for you even when you're alone that feeling comes with you. People deserve to feel safe; it's one of the most important feelings there is. This is why I believe everyone deserves to have a home to feel safe.
In conclusion I strongly believe that everyone deserves to be warm physically and emotionally to have that feeling of weeping yourself in a blanket and the feeling of having people there to make you happy, have equal opportunities to have a job even if your hate and you want to quit, that feeling of knowing it’s over and coming home, and last but not least have a place to feel safe to fell that no one can hurt you no one can tell you 're not deserving. No matter who you are or what you look like, everyone deserves a HOME. c/
