what is home to me?

I honestly believe that everyone should have a home, no matter who they are. Whether they’re young or old, good or bad, everyone deserves a place to stay. For me, a home isn’t just somewhere you sleep—it's where you can feel safe, be yourself, and know you belong. It’s something that everyone should have, no matter what’s going on in their life. The first reason I think everyone should have a home is because it’s so important for safety and comfort. People just can’t have a successful life without one. Homes have been around forever, from caves to igloos to cabins and mansions. Some people might think that you can still be successful without a home, but there are stories of people who made it big even though they started with nothing. Take Walt Disney, for example. I remember a time when I was walking with my mom in downtown Edmonton. We were walking up the stairs in a parkade when we saw a homeless person sitting there. They smelled like gasoline, probably because of the parkade, and they were wearing a big winter coat even though it was only fall. I asked my mom if she had any spare change to help, but she told me that there are charities and organizations that help people like that. I felt a little sad, but it made me happy to know that there are people working to help those in need. Another thing is, not everyone who’s homeless is uneducated. Some people could really help out at school or work if they just had a home. Being homeless takes away their chance to be part of a community And if they had a pet, maybe their pet lost its home too. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am, but then I remember things like the time I was grounded for the first time for two whole days and had no technology. I was bored out of my mind, and I realized it was kind of like what it might feel like to be homeless—just stuck, not really having a place or something to do. In the end, it shouldn’t matter who you are or where you come from—everyone deserves a place to call home. A home should be more than just a roof over your head; it should be somewhere you feel loved, safe, and supported. It’s a place where you can be yourself without fear or judgment. Nobody should feel less because of where they come from or what’s happening in their life. People who have more should understand that, and we all have a responsibility to make sure everyone has the same rights and chances. After all, a home is a right, not a privilege. Everyone deserves to feel at peace and have a place.
