Thru God's Lens
“To enter, we must become childlike” Matt 18:3
As a priest one of my jobs is to bless people’s homes. As I walked thru this particular neighbourhood. I did so with fear and dread.
The air smelled of smoke and the loud basketball brawl could be heard miles away. All I could see was the walls were graffiti filled and the floors littered with trash. As I approached the front door and knocked, I let out a big sigh of relief and thanked God for my safe travels.
With bright eyes and a happy heart this child answered. “Welcome to our home!”. The kid went onto say. Did you smell the flowers and vegetables in the community garden? Did you hear the family of birds and squirrels playing in the trees? DId you see the the art filled walls painted by our neighbourhood with past events in our community?
This is when I realized how my senses had obstructed my view. The true blessing of a new home is not where you live that matters. It's the glasses you wear when your passing thru it.
