The Meaning of Home

Home, a place where I grieve, a place where I’m sad, a place where I can let my emotions out even if I’m mad A place where I’m happy, a place where I have fun, a place where everything has begun Wherever I go, wherever I stay, if I’m not at my home I’m always a little gray I lay in my bed waiting to sleep, closing my eyes I don’t hear a peep I wake up in the morning ready for the day, I know in my head I’ll never go away When I come back from school I open the door, I smell my mom’s cooking, it’s the cooking that I most adore I sit at the table eating my food daydreaming, while I hear the kitchen sink streaming Our dad comes home from work with his hands wide open, my brothers and I run and hug him with lots of emotion It’s almost time for bed I’m heading upstairs, the love for my family is very rare I dream in my bed thinking of home, thinking of how I’m never alone A home isn't just building, it’s a place with so much meaning It’s not only a place with four walls, it’s a place where we all have our falls I’ll love my home forever and always, I may not forever be here in my home, but in my heart I’ll always be there never on my own
