What is a Home

When you think of a home, you usually think of a shelter and a place to live, but it’s more than just that. A home is where you have privacy and you feel secure. You don’t have to worry about the ‘‘what ifs’’ that you’d probably have without a home. They are the fears of events like rain, snow, eviction, and more. Everyone should feel that where they live is their sanctuary. By a sanctuary, I mean a place where you can feel safe and take refuge. A home can be an apartment, house, homeless shelter, hometown, or home country and so much more. A house, where you live, can change. A home is where you have memories of your childhood and good times. A home can also change, but it rarely does. Try to make wherever you live your home, but don’t lie to yourself. Lying that your house is your home will always make you feel hollow. A house’s value is in money, whereas a home’s is in sentiment. A home is a beautiful place if it has great sentimental value. The more affection for it, the prettier it becomes. A house is a structure where you live. A home includes memories, you, your family, food, water, and the furniture. If you don’t like any of these things in your house, then it’s not a home, yet. Notice that I said “yet” because it can become one. When you move away to a new neighborhood, you miss your old one and think that it was where your home was. But that isn’t the thing! There’s always a chance that you could start to build a connection with the new neighborhood and it could become your new home. Remember, a home is just where you belong!
