Meaning of Home

Home is not just a house. Home is a place where I can feel safe and don’t need to hide. Home is a place where I can eat cookies and jam that my grandma makes on Christmas Eve. Home is a place where I can sleep in a bed on a stormy winter night. Home is a place where I can smell the food that my mom makes for supper when I’m hungry. Home is a place where I can hear my mom and dad’s voices saying they love me. Home is a place where I can make memories that I cherish with my family. Home is a place where I see my dog and cat waiting for me to get home from school. Home is where I can feel my cat’s warm fur against my leg. Home is where I can ride on my horse on a beautiful sunny day and feel my horses warm winter coat on a stormy winter day. Home is playing outside with my friend Brianna and her horse Winey. Home is place that I express my thoughts at the dinner table. Home is where I go on trial rides to a small lake in the forest. Home is where my dad teaches me to hunt deer. Home is where I can go to my papa’s camp and go swimming with my cousins and my friends. Home is where I have hot chocolate on a cold day after sledding and going snow machining with my dad and my brother. A house is brick walls, but a home is where people share thoughts and laughter. Not everyone has a home where they can feel safe and comfortable. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for giving people the feeling of what it means to be home.
