What Home Means to Me
It was a cloudy gloomy evening in Prince Rupert. “I don’t want to move,” said Meena. There were boxes all over the floor.
“ It’s not a debate, Meena”, said Meena’s mom caringly. Meena’s mom continued, “ I know it’s difficult but your dad got a job in Toronto. Come here,” said mom. Sitting on the bed frame with no mattress. Meena unwillingly joined. “Listen Meena we will have more money and a big apartment in Toronto”, said Mom trying to cheer Meena up.
Meena’s reply was a scream of “ But it’s not home the place I have been since I was little!” There were tears in Meena’s eyes. It started to rain really hard which happens a lot in Prince Rupert.
“Honey, do you know the meaning of home?” asked mom. Meena shook her head in confusion. “The meaning of home is where family is. Me, your dad and your grandma will always be together. I know I searched it on Google”, said Mom trying to make her laugh. Meena laughed a little. Mom started again with a smile “But there is something Google doesn’t know. A home is where you are safe not where you don’t feel safe if you don’t want to move we won’t.
“Ok I feel safe but what about that special feeling of home and my friends. The storm calmed a bit outside
“ Once our things are in the house it will feel like it . You can call your friends and visit in the summer.” said Mom
“Ok I will start packing” said Meena. “We all face storms in life. Some are more difficult than others, but we all go through trials and tribulation. That's why we have the gift of faith.” Joyce Meyer
