Meaning of Home
Have you ever gotten wet in the rain? Then, do you know why we need an umbrella? Well, an umbrella keeps us dry when it is raining, so does a home. A home is a place where you feel loved, warm, and safe.
What is a home to me?
When I step into my house, I feel happy, sometimes even frustrated. The smell of kimchi fried rice makes my mouth drool. The taste of it is just too good to imagine. My family and my plushies welcome me as I arrive through the door. But without my family, I won’t feel home.
My family makes me feel comfortable and confident. I can be me. I don’t need to be perfect because I am me. My family and I play board games together (e.g., Monopoly, Connect4, Guess Who etc.), watch TV together, and do silly things together (e.g., screaming for no reason during a scary movie, tickling each other etc.). When I am sick, my family always takes great care of me. They also provide me with emotional support. For example, when I fall or try to give up, they always encourage me to continue trying. To me, that is quite important.
Why is a Home special? To me, a home is not just about the structure. It is about the people and memories inside of it.
Knowing that my home is different from the others, it makes me appreciate it even more. l am grateful for having a home. My home provides me with almost everything I need (e.g., food, clothes etc.). A home is a unique and special place for me. What is a home for you?
