What Home Means To Me

Home is a place of comfort, safety, love, and so much more. Each room holds its own distinct feelings, smells, and sights. Time spent with family fills the air with laughter and love, and at home, you always feel cared for. Whether you feel sad, mad, or glad, there’s always a sense of comfort. For some, that comfort may be found in a bedroom—a quiet space to retreat from the world, lay in bed, and relax. For others, it could be the kitchen, where the smells of cooking fill the air, and the joy of preparing a meal for loved ones brings a sense of warmth. The living room might be where you cozy up by the fire or gather with family to watch a movie. Every room in a home holds its own memories and emotions. Take the basement, for example—it may be filled with old objects that spark feelings of both joy and sadness, holding memories of the past. Sadly, not everyone has a place to call home. There are those who have nowhere to spend time with family, no space to share meals with loved ones or friends. They don't have a place to come home to after a busy day and collapse on the couch. Home is a sanctuary, a place where you can relax and express your emotions. It’s where you feel loved and where you can love in return. It’s a space where you can reflect when you’re feeling down, and where you can play games and share moments of happiness when you’re filled with joy. I believe everyone deserves a place to call home—a space where they can feel comfortable, cherished, and where memories are made through both the joyful and challenging moments of life.
