What's a Home?
What's a home you may ask ? It's a safe place. A place where you can talk and play my home is something more than it was . When I felt warm and safe my mom and I renovated a house from 1970, so we ripped carpet, tore walls, and made it a home. The house smelled like cigarettes, it was stuck to the walls. My papa (grandpa) came all the way from BC to my home to help. When it was almost finished, and we only had carpet left to do, my grandparents came and threw a surprise party at our house. My mom’s friend gave her advice about financial things. Thanks Janet! That party night, I had an amazing time. My cousin Charlee and I stayed, and my aunt and Julia stayed up all night making food. My mom was sleeping. My cousins and I were giggling and playing ALL NIGHT. We put foundation on our knees and pretended it was going to be a wedding. I have some of the best memories in my home. I have the friendliest neighbours too. My mom and I used to live in an apartment, so I’ve always wanted a backyard. And guess what? I have one. I’m safe from the cold weather, the hot heat, and crazy animals.
But after everything my mom and I have been through, I’m truly grateful to have a house. It’s not just walls and a roof, IT’S MY HOME.
I love waking up to my mom making food we have a kitchen too (inside joke) I never really gotta have friends over but now I do all the time.
