The Meaning of Home

Homes aren't things you come to after school, the only people who believe that are truly fools. A true home you might be at all day, but it all depends on what you want to say. A home may be a warm embrace, but no matter what, it isn’t a place. Houses might be cozy, neat and clean, but a home, despite the looks, will be the best place you’ve ever seen. Houses have furniture and utilities for fillings, but homes have mothers, fathers, or maybe even siblings. Instead of pristine plastic covered chairs, there’s nestled in loved ones, someone who cares. Homes can be people, not just a place, it’s someone who cares for you, recognizable by face. Board games, hot cocoa, and warm hugs, someone there for you when you’re too scared to squash the bugs. Making pancakes in the morning and joyous laughter, a Mama there for you to wipe the syrup off your face after. Snuggles and forehead kisses right before bed, and the bearer of ice packs for when you bump your head. On birthdays, we bake a cake. We work hard, because our love isn’t fake. Homes aren’t houses, no matter what they say, it’s a place of comfort, a place to stay. A place of comfort, as calm as a dove, it’s amazing, and beautiful, a place of love.
