What Home Means to Me

Home isn’t just a place to sleep. It’s where I feel safe and loved and always be myself. In the living room every evening, the smell of my mom’s lentil curry fills the house, and it’s like a sign to sit down and spend time together. I look forward to those dinners because I feel most connected to my family. But it’s not just the place that makes it feel like home, it’s the people. My mom helps me with homework, and my dad and I play badminton in the yard. Where we run around laughing even though I am way faster than him. Those games may be small, but they are moments I’ll always remember. It’s the sense of comfort, the familiar sounds and the people who share it with me. It’s where we all support each other, whether it’s helping with school work, playing games, or just sitting together and talking about our day. It’s the small moments. These moments, these people, are what I’ll always carry with me no matter where I go. That’s why I’m glad my school is supporting Habitat for Humanity. Everyone deserves a place for their own, where they feel cared for. Home isn’t about the size or how beautiful the furniture is. It’s about the people in it and the memories you make together. Home is where my family is, and that’s what makes it special.
