Home is Safety
The meaning of home is very different from house. A house is merely four walls and a roof. A home is a safe haven of tranquility and joyous memories made from years of that being your only home. It is bursting to the brim with beautiful moments from your past even moments you might not remember. Even though you might not remember the land on which you stood as a small child, the land remembers you. You can and will only ever have one home which is the place where you feel safe, a place of peace. To me my home is a place where I can express myself without judgement, where I don’t have to hold anything back and I can be myself. I will always remember the path home that I have taken so many times before. The food we cooked, the jokes we shared, the tickle fights that could last forever and everything that made me feel safe. Even when I run away, my feet will carry me back, back home, back where I belong. And at the end of all my adventures, I can trust my dad to tuck me into my warm bed to rest. Then once again, I will be home, and that is what home means to me.
