It Isn’t Just a ‘House’

What does home mean to me? It’s not just a stranger’s house that you drive by in your local neighbourhood. It’s a place where I feel warm, welcome, and joyful in. When I walk in, I always recognize the furniture and the lights. The familiar things I see make me remember all the times I've tripped, broken something, or had an argument. And yet, they still accept me as a family member. Walking downstairs, sometimes I see my mom cooking her sinigang recipe. The aroma of the soup makes me smile. The active talking at the dinner table and jokes about one another puts a grin on my face. Specifically, it’s my dad who makes jokes. I love my parents because of their unique personality. My mom and dad are always working hard. And I love them because of that. When I think more about it, I realize how expensive homes are currently. Habitat for Humanity has changed that. They have transformed lives by building houses for people who need them and helping them make a home they can call their own. I hope all people can have a home, just like us.
