Grandpa, what is home?
A young boy was sitting at the dinner table. He saw his family sitting beside him. Then he asked his grandpa,
“What is the meaning of home?”
Grandpa chuckled.
“Home is an amazing concept, son.”
The young boy was confused. He asked,
“What is home?”
Grandpa replied, “A sanctuary where you find happiness, safety, and hope. What does home mean to you?"
The boy thought about it for a while. Then, he finally answered.
“Mama’s cooking. My daddy reading stories.”
His mom and dad both smiled. But Grandpa wasn’t done.
“There’s something you should keep in mind.”
That caught the parents’ attention.
“Home isn’t always a house, or an apartment, or a condo, or a duplex.”
The mom and dad looked at each other.
“It’s the place where you feel secure, safe, cozy, and comfortable.”
The boy said, “I feel very cozy where we live!”
The Grandpa was happy the boy understood what he was saying.
“Welcome to reality son, ‘home’ is a luxury that many people, unfortunately, do not have.”
The boy was sad.
“But why?” he asked.
The grandpa sighed.
“I don’t know. Which is why you must be grateful. Home should be perfect! Made for you, but it’s your choice on what makes home, home.”
