What Home Means to Me

A home to me is not just a set of walls. It's more than a place to sleep. I can't imagine life without every piece that makes my home, home. The first piece is my dad. He is strong and works hard. He’s weird, in a good way, and is funny. The second piece is my mom. She is resilient and keeps me safe and healthy. She helps me when I am sick and prays for me every day. Then, there's my big bro, the third piece of our puzzle. He is talented at art and hockey. Next there's my little sister. She is gifted at doing cartwheels and handstands. She always beats me in those competitions. A puzzle can't be finished unless every piece fits and the last piece is me. I am good at hockey,I'm athletic and a fast runner. I am generous and make people laugh. A home is where you're welcomed with love. It’s where you eat a warm cooked meal together. Home is where you can jump into your pjs, get into your cozy bed, close your eyes and think how safe you are. Home is where I make memories and there will be more as I grow. There are emotions and stress, but you are surrounded by people who drop everything to give you a hug, listen to you, and cheer you up. There is no judgement on how you act, look, feel, your personality or your hobbies. Home is where there are movie nights on the couch, where comfort flies and the living room beats with love. You are together and can snuggle up. There are moments when the mini sticks come out. As a family, you laugh and playfully try to win. At home I feel joyful and know I belong. It’s where there is kindness, love, happiness, and laughter. It’s where I am loved unconditionally.
