From Ukraine to Canada

My life began in Ukraine. I lived in a small, but comfortable cottage with my cousin, my grandma and my parents. Each part of my cottage held special moments of my life, and it always will. The kitchen is where I first learned how to bake, my grandmother taught me how to make her delicious homemade sourdough bread. Now, whenever the tasty smell of sourdough bread meets my nose; it reminds me of my home in Ukraine, and my grandma, who means the most to me. The living room is where all of the fun crafts were made! It's where I was taught how to sew and make other really cool things. It was also where we shared emotions, from tears to laughter, I’ll always remember the warm laughter of my grandmother and my cousin. In general, each part of my cottage was special to me, I felt safe and happy, it was my home. Then the news came, we had to move due to some unfortunate circumstances; I had to leave my home, but I also had to leave my grandma and my cousin, as they stayed back. It was hard to say Goodbye, but we left. And we moved to Canada. At first, I thought it was my home, my cottage that I missed, when really, it was my grandmother and cousin, my family. But after a while, I made memories and I felt happy again. We built our new life here, and I love it, I made new friends, got new opportunities, and learned new things. So, home can mean so many different things to everyone, from a person to an object, as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters. For me, home is my wonderful family, and it always will be.
